Honky-Tonk is an original whimsical textile mixed media artwork created with layered fabric, Swarovski crystals, and gems on cradled birch panel. Two whimsical bird characters share the stage against a cream background scattered with fabric music notes and staff lines. On the left, a glamorous bird is pieced from soft mint fabric dotted in blues and purples, her eyes and eyebrows cut entirely from fabric, a crown of layered red leaf shapes set with a cluster of rhinestones, hot pink fabric lips, a rhinestone chain trim, and a ruffled pink lace skirt above fishnet-patterned legs and rhinestone-trimmed red heels. Beside her, a cowboy bird is pieced from a bold triangle-patterned fabric in blues, greens, and pinks, topped with a glittering black cowboy hat banded in deep red gems, a fabric mustache, a gun belt with holster fastened by a round turquoise stone buckle, and patterned brown cowboy boots. Both stand on a wood-plank floor as sheet music drifts around them.
