Desert Rising is an original botanical textile mixed media artwork created with layered fabric, Swarovski crystals, and ink pen detail on cradled birch panel. Two tall saguaro cacti rise from the right side of the composition with the unhurried, patient dignity of forms that measure time in decades rather than seasons — their ridged surfaces rendered in deep forest green fabric with ink pen detail that traces every line and shadow with precise naturalistic care. To their left, a gathering of prickly pear and pad cacti in chartreuse, teal, and soft blue builds a lush botanical foreground of extraordinary variety — polka dot fabric pads, deep teal batik rounds, and soft blue spotted forms layered together with the easy abundance of a desert that has found its perfect conditions and grown accordingly.
